Guilds and drugs
A topic I'm sure long-time players probably found themselves in multiple times.
Ever join a guild before and then watch as they make a whole conversation about drugs? <_<
Just wondering what people think whenever they get in a situation like this?
Me? Normally I tolerate it usually, but I don't support it whatsoever and I'm very clear on that. If it's just guild members, it can't be prevented anyways.
Though if it reaches a point where even an officer or leader is involved, I usually just *facepalm* and leave.
I find being around people of low standards is a huge turnoff from playing with them. Even if they're the best Guild in the game. Being around your "group of people" you get along with should be integral for when you're part of a guild, otherwise membership is a waste. It isn't a right or wrong per se, but more of an incompatibility.
By the way, by drugs I don't mean tobacco, alcohol, or weed. I mean "da true shit"

I mute them on vent or place them on the ignore list. Even if guildies.
Really lame having to hear stuff like that. Where's that GW pet peeve thread when you need it.

yes, but i think what people do outside of the game is their own business.
if it bothers you, ignore it/turn off chat/leave vent/whatever if it bothers you. don't rage/lecture/leave the guild/refuse to play with them over it.

Why do you care?
Who decides what "low standards" are?
ps. Alcohol is a harddrug.

I've never had a guild talk about anything worse than mushrooms. If they started talking about anything worse, then I'd leave. Imo, anything beyond mushrooms shouldn't be supported.
I actually enjoy talking with my guilds about weed and alcohol. It's not all I talk about, but it leads to some funny/interesting conversations.
But if someone has a problem with those topics, it's probably worth it to leave, and join one of those thousand of Christian Alliances I see all the time in Kamadan.

Personal judgment, as well as many other factors. Though I don't think bringing up government, law, and morale-related topics are necessary for this thread.
And I care because being part of a guild with those against your morales is rather pointless, there for, a reason to leave.
There. Question answered.

Some time, when you grow up into a big boy, you will learn that the DARE officers that come into your 5th grade classroom aren't entirely truthful with you. Grown men and women can enjoy taking drugs from time to time, responsibly, not as an often occurrence, but as social recreation, and not become INSTANTLY dependent on them and not have it ruin their lives completely!
Which undoubtedly make for good times and good stories, a conversation that should not by any means fall upon sensitive wittle carebear ears. So you should absolutely leave that guild, that i'll agree with.
But all this knowledge comes in time, young chap. Look at me, i'm all giving life lessons on guild wars and stuff. I'm sure if you look, there's TONS of carebear guilds that will cater to your needs and talk about sunshine and rainbows day in and day out, so you can be a happy little camper and be jolly.

If it's in guild chat or alliance chat, and you are aware you have impressionable young people in the guild, then I would tell them to stfu. If not, I would just say "to each his own" and let them do their thing. It's not like I have to deal with them and their druggie ways irl..

If someone wants to spark a conversation regarding a topic you aren't comfortable with, then kindly ask them to change the subject and if they don't turn GC/AC off for a bit and let the topic die down. Honestly, its not hurting you if someone is discussing something you aren't comfortable with. Nor are they in your living room doing drugs, so why should you care? If you feel the need to leave your guild based on a conversation others are having, then well, that's your choice, but don't act like you were forced to make that decision. Other than that, you should remember to live and let live, to each his own, etc etc.

Well it's someone else's personal choice for their own life so I don't see how it should really matter to you
no one is forcing you to start doing drugs so you should just ignore it or leave if even bringing up that subject offends you
honestly though there are plenty of people who do drugs in the world so you are bound to be around them at some point.
Just learn how to handle the situation or leave
not everyone is going to fit your view of the "right" people so you just have to deal with it or go somewhere else

Yeaaaaaah... not a problem in my guild/alliance. I suppose I wouldn't care so much in this case. The only thing that'd really make me tick off GC/AC is excessive moron/text speak.

...how do you ever expect to survive in the real world when you're struggling to cope socially in an online video game? HONESTLY...

Change the guild if it bothers you. I`ve never had that kind of problems in any guild i`ve been in. Understand this - games attract all kinds of ppl. Some of them are escapists from reality, and drugs are just another way of doing it.

We don't usually talk drugs.
Well, outside of the occasional Rohypnol use to score some 10 year old ass.
Of course we'd LOVE to talk more, but parents these days just don't leave their kids alone with priests anymore!
What the hell is up with THAT!??!?!

That's why I am guildless. (Not really, but it's one of the positive points if you look at it that way.)
Only thing I can say: deal with it in your own way.
But deal with it. It's life.
